We want you to know that because of the generosity of donors like you CHSC’s Member Care Team was able to facilitate the following member care support opportunities during our 2023-2024 fiscal year.
- Member Care Retreats – 3-5 days in duration, where not only are classes and training provided, but missionaries are ministered to personally by our Member Care Team. A total of 37 individual missionaries attended and were ministered to during retreats this year.
- Overseas Pastoral Care Visits – Pastoral care visits made to the missionary’s assigned station, where prayer, support and Pastoral counseling can take place on an individual basis. Additionally, assessment is made regarding the spiritual and emotional condition of each missionary, as well as their families. This greatly aids our team in assessment of needs as well as the provision of future care for each person. Fifty-four individuals were ministered to on location this past year. This included visits to Honduras, Congo, Gabon, Chad, Burundi and Kenya.
“They helped me to start sleeping through the night again!”
- Shalom Retreat Center Stays – Ranging in length from 10-day Orientation events done in preparation for missionaries being posted overseas, to multiple week periods of professional debriefing/Member Care support, to multiple month-long times of rest and recovery. Guests are provided complete care including provision of vehicles when needed at no cost. In all, 43 individuals, including children were hosted at Shalom, including three families who were hosted on a long-term basis for rest and recovery this year.
- Professional Counselor Debriefing Programs. – These programs are generally very intensive, up to three weeks in duration, and completely focused on ministering to the spiritual and emotional needs of each member of the family. Great time and care is exercised in helping each individual prayerfully process their experiences, and the impact upon their lives. Seventy-one individuals including children were able to attend a debriefing program this year.
- Member Care Facilitator Contacts/Communication – These included short conversations, as well as long-term sessions to work through feelings, experiences and needs of the families and single workers. These contacts included messaging (text, WhatsApp, or Signal,) email conversations, video and voice calls, weekly group prayer calls, or multiple face to face meeting opportunities provided during Orientation. A total of 4,182 individual contacts were made with missionaries this year.
