Global Health Resources for Providers

The Christian Health Service Corps does not require additional training in global health or tropical medicine for our missionaries. However, for those seeking to become career missionary healthcare providers certification in clinical tropical medicine and travelers health is strongly recommended; requirements for CTropMed certification and approved programs are listed below. There are also some eLearning programs for those who are seeking certification in tropical medicine but have a desire to learn more about global health in preparation for service.

Certificate of Knowledge in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health (CTropMed®) Since 1995, the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene has offered the Certificate of Knowledge in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health -CTropMed® recognizing individual excellence in training and knowledge.

Attainment of the CTropMed® requires: demonstration of 2 months of clinical experience in a tropical medicine setting, documentation of either extensive clinical experience or completion of a specialized training course in clinicl tropical medicine, passing the examination in clinical tropical medicine and travelers’ health administered by the Society on a bi-annual basis (even numbered years).

The Global Health e Learning center is a USAID program designed to promote global health education.  CHSC reccomends the USAID global health online courses and ecourages our missionary staff to pursue onging education in the area of global health in which they practice.

Reserve Corps Application

Our Reserve Corps program allows healthcare professionals seeking to volunteer short-term to do so in a way that supports long-term Christian medical missions work. CHSC places healthcare professionals in a growing list of Christian hospitals across Africa, Asia, Latin America and other regions. Christian Health Service Corps works to improve access to primary healthcare, surgical services, and community-based disease prevention services. Non-Christian volunteers are accepted on a case by case basis but solely at the discretion of the hospital and CHSC team the volunteer will be supporting.
