Our staff often serve as faculty in established training programs and residencies raising up the next generation of health professionals. Others train national staff in less formal environments. Building local capacity is central to the identity of the Christian Health Service Corps, therefore we actively seek out places where we can have a lasting impact by discipling, and training local Christian physicians and health professionals to serve in their own communities.

CHSC missionary physician Dr. Roger Holland and his wife Rita serve at MCM. Dr. Holland is dean of the medical school at Myungsung Christian Medical Center. There is an ongoing need for physicians to serve as academic and clinical faculty in this program.

Language: English is spoken by most hospital staff. Amharic is the office language of Ethiopia. Also spoken are Somali and Arabic and many others. Teaching is done in English and nearly all the hospital staff speak English. Most of the Korean volunteers have limited English capabilities, but are eager to learn and all are gracious and humble to all.

Reserve Corps Application

Our Reserve Corps program allows healthcare professionals seeking to volunteer short-term to do so in a way that supports long-term Christian medical missions work. CHSC places healthcare professionals in a growing list of Christian hospitals across Africa, Asia, Latin America and other regions. Christian Health Service Corps works to improve access to primary healthcare, surgical services, and community-based disease prevention services. Non-Christian volunteers are accepted on a case by case basis but solely at the discretion of the hospital and CHSC team the volunteer will be supporting.

Faith Questions

Christian Health Service Corps staff are missionary medical professionals, but we do invite our non-Christian colleagues to join our effort to bring quality healthcare to the poor at the discretion of mission hospital and CHSC staff at the facility. Every volunteer is expected to follow the hospital dress code, where there is one, and code of conduct.
