Soddo Christian Hospital

Soddo Christian Hospital has an inpatient capacity of around 200 beds. It is located in the highlands of Ethiopia south of Addis Ababa. The inpatient wards include: surgical, maternity, medicine/pediatrics and orthopedic. Current long-term expatriate staff include general surgeon, orthopedic surgeon, family medicine. CHSC medical needs at this facility: Our highest priority need is for two family medicine physicians to help launch a family practice residency at this facility.

Our staff often serves as faculty in established training programs and residencies raising up the next generation of health professionals. Others train national staff in less formal environments. Building local capacity is central to the identity of the Christian Health Service Corps, therefor we actively seek out places where we can have a lasting impact by discipling and training local Christian physicians and health professionals to serve in their own communities. Soddo Christian Hospital is one of these facilities. Soddo is a PAACS training site with Ethiopian residents who are engaged in a 5-year general surgery residency program.  We are seeking another  General Surgeon who is committed to training the next generation of African surgeons. CHSC missionary physician Dr. Michelle and Adam Yates is developing a family practice residency at Soddo Christian Hospital and needs at least two more family physicians to help launch and serve as faculty in this program. We hope the have the first residents enter this program in 2018. CHSC support staff needs at this facility: 

• Teacher to help with home schooling on the mission station
• Hospital/ Missionary Chaplain
• Information Technology Specialist
• General admin support such as social media
