As Missionary Care Facilitator, Joy has the privilege of serving the servants. She has a passion to facilitate, research, and develop resources for the whole-person health of each missionary. By walking alongside healthcare missionaries, she desires that each individual would know that they are not alone and that they have community through the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness.
Since graduating from Baylor College of Medicine in 2009 as a Physician Assistant (PA-C), Joy has worked in community medicine and domestic missions. Having served as the clinic manager for a charity faith-based clinic in Houston serving primarily immigrants, she is familiar with the dynamics of cross-cultural care and low socioeconomic status complexities. She has completed short term healthcare mission trips to Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Africa. In 2019 she worked for three months as a Hospitalist in Kenya through World Medical Mission with Samaritan’s Purse, returning there for long-term service in 2020. Due to health reasons, she returned to Texas in 2021 and now serves in member care with the CHSC Headquarters team.
Joy is acutely aware of the emotional, physical, and mental toll it takes to work in medicine and in healthcare missions. She is grateful for all who give and pray to partner in God’s work of helping missionaries not only survive, but thrive.
