Mission: We have served in Ghana since 1988, working mostly in under-served rural areas in Northern Region. For twenty -four years we have worked in Saboba on the Togo border. For 15 of those years, Jean was the Medical Superintendent and only doctor for the Assemblies of God Hospital, Saboba (previously called Saboba Medical Centre), a 134 bed Assemblies of God, Ghana mission hospital. Jean currently serves as the Surgical Specialist and heads the Pediatrics Ward and the NICU, while her Ghanaian colleague, Dr. Samuel Kando Bukari, acts as Clinical Coordinator. Dr. Rashid Konni, an experienced Medical Officer, is joining the hospital staff in October 2024. Mr. Francis Atuuro is the General Manager and heads the hospital as well as our sister clinic in Nakpanduri, eighty miles to the north of Saboba. AGHS offers a full range of services to more than 120,000 people in Ghana and Togo.
Working through the Hospital Chaplain, we help feed indigent patients and pay their hospital bills. We have one long-term patient with Beta Thalassemia whose care we are supporting.
Bob volunteers in the Maintenance Department at AGHS, preaches in local churches, and is a founder and active participant in the Local Council of Churches. Bob also has a prayer ministry to all the uniformed service workers in Ghana. Recently, Bob as a former fire fighter helped raise funds to renovate a fire engine so that Saboba now has its own fire engine.
We sponsor students in health care professions through the hospital and are currently sponsoring advanced nursing students in several specialty courses. We host volunteer groups, both Ghanaian and expatriate.
Our passion is to see the Kingdom of God advance among the Konkombas and other tribes whom we serve. Our constant prayer is that God will make the AG Hospital, Saboba, a place of His Praise, a place of His Glory, a place of Health, a place of Help, a place of Hope, a place of Healing, a place of Holiness, and a Place of Shalom!
