Who We Are

Ethan and Elizabeth Helm

About Ethan and Elizabeth Helm

Ethan and Elizabeth are medical missionaries passionate about bringing spiritual and physical healing to the developing world. After serving two years at Mbingo Baptist Hospital (Cameroon) with World Medical Mission, they moved to Cambodia in December 2018.

Ethan lived near Chicago during his undergraduate studies and returned to Arkansas for medical school. God saved Ethan as a child, grew his faith through Stage IV cancer as a teenager, and called him to missions through a Kenyan mentor. Ethan works as a pediatrician at Hebron Hospital; in addition to caring for patients, he enjoys teaching medical residents and students. He remains focused on preaching the Good News through medicine.

Elizabeth grew up in Buffalo, where she attended university and medical school. She spends her days teaching at home, studying Khmer, writing, feeding lots of people, and keeping her CME current by looking up answers to many informal medical consults. She is committed to discipleship and health education as a means of living out the Gospel.

Ethan and Elizabeth completed their residencies in Rochester, NY, where Ethan trained in Pediatrics and Elizabeth in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine. They are thankful for the children God has given them in the past decade of life on three continents. Josiah, Esther, Isaiah, and Ezekiel have enjoyed their own international journeys and continue to bring light and laughter to every day.

Reserve Corps Application

Our Reserve Corps program allows healthcare professionals seeking to volunteer short-term to do so in a way that supports long-term Christian medical missions work. CHSC places healthcare professionals in a growing list of Christian hospitals across Africa, Asia, Latin America and other regions. Christian Health Service Corps works to improve access to primary healthcare, surgical services, and community-based disease prevention services. Non-Christian volunteers are accepted on a case by case basis but solely at the discretion of the hospital and CHSC team the volunteer will be supporting.
