In August, we shared Elizabeth Martin’s story of tirelessly caring for Juana (name has been changed), a 12-year-old girl who had contracted the potentially deadly virus, Dengue Fever. Juana was fighting for her life on a breathing machine. Elizabeth, a registered nurse at Hospital Loma de Luz in Honduras, is pleased to report the progress of her young patient. At first Juana required a breathing machine, then required supplemental oxygen, and finally was able to breath on her own. She initially was bedridden, but eventually could walk short distances with a walker. And finally Juana was released from the hospital to finish her recovery at home. The journey was long and hard, but well worth everyone’s effort! The family is thankful for her recovery.
