Stephen and Amy both felt a call to international missions while attending the same college. Although they did not know each other at the time and would not meet until years later, God was preparing each of them for a life of service to Him. Individually they pursued that calling through vocations that gave them opportunities to serve people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Amy studied social work and went on for further training in Fort Worth, TX where she began working as a case manager for a refugee resettlement agency. Stephen went to medical school in Memphis, TN and then did his residency in family medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.
It was in Texas that they met, married, and together began a new chapter of following Jesus to low-resourced areas of the world. After an additional year of training in obstetrics, Stephen and Amy were honored to be a part of Samaritan’s Purse’s Post Residency Program, where they served at Mukinge Hospital in the northwestern province of Zambia for two years.
They are currently making plans, along with their three children, to return to Zambia to serve. They hope to witness, once again, God’s transformational grace and power at work at Mukinge. May His Kingdom come and His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
