Week One

This section is a necessary part of your pre-field preparation, but we hope and pray you will never need to use it. Completion of these modules is required prior to leaving for your field assignment.

1) Please read Chapters 1 through 3 in the WV Security Awareness Manual and watch the following short videos in preparation for our next group meeting.

2) In general, there are four levels of risk: GREEN, YELLOW, RED, and BLACK. In some countries, individual regions may be assigned different risk levels. These levels are listed and defined in the WV security awareness manual. Please know or assign the level that best fits for the country in which you will be serving.

3) Please review the US state Department Travel advisories or warnings and decide what color code your country of service holds. http://travel.state.gov/travel/travel_1744.html (Links to an external site.)

4) Please also review any recent violence against aid workers in the country where you will be serving at https://aidworkersecurity.org/ (Links to an external site.)
