Josue had multiple surgeries on his abdomen by Honduran doctors that caused intestinal fistulas. He has been at Loma de Luz for many weeks, requiring a colostomy bag. He continued to lose weight (down to 34 kilos, 74 lbs) so our physicians started Josue on TPN (IV nutrition). Each bag costs $220 and takes 2 days to get to the hospital. Since it is so hot in the hospital, we keep the TPN cool by placing an ice pack in a grocery bag and hanging it with the TPN in the box it was shipped in. Sounds like something MacGyver would do 🙂
Side note: Every morning I work, Josue and I discuss what we read in the Bible that morning, which brings a smile to his face.
