Global Health and Tropical Medicine Overview Course Description
Training in global health and tropical medicine is crucial for serving in international healthcare settings. Healthcare professionals and students – gain the knowledge and skills you need for short or long term international service. This course provides an overview of tropical diseases in a case-based format. In addition, it highlights the provision of quality care through the application of global health guidelines. The sessions cover topics ranging from malnutrition to cultural context and outline approaches to whole-person care in developing communities. The Physical Exam, Suture, and Ultrasound Workshops included in the course promote practical skills for resource-limited settings.

Registration and Logistics
This course is held at CHSC Shalom Retreat and Training Center in Grand Saline, TX. Course activities are scheduled daily from 8 am through 5:30 pm.
When making transportation arrangements, please plan 2 hours of driving time between Dallas airports and CHSC Shalom Retreat and Training Center.
Participants staying at Shalom Retreat and Training Center are encouraged to arrive June 14 and depart June 21.
