For most women in Chad, once breast cancer is confirmed it is almost beyond curing. This is due to little-to-no health education in hospitals or community health. The goal of CHSC’s Hope for Beating Breast Cancer in Chad is to teach women to self-examine and catch early signs. The program takes place at Guinebor 2 (G2) Hospital and Dougia Health Center. Through the program, a trained healthcare professional will perform free breast screenings along with consistent community health lessons for women. If symptoms of breast cancer are found such as lumps, women will be referred to both the hospital and health center for further treatment. This simple method of creating a breast exam system and community care will save the lives of thousands of women in Chad.
