Healthcare professionals and students – gain knowledge and skills for short or long term international service. This course provides an overview of tropical diseases in a case-based format and highlights the provision of quality care through application of global health guidelines. Sessions on topics ranging from malnutrition to cultural context outline approaches to whole-person care in developing communities. Suturing and physical exam workshops promote practical skills for resource-limited settings.
Nurses – CEU provided by Texas Woman’s University College of Nursing – T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences – Dallas Center. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 16383 for up to 40.5 CEU. Contact hours awarded based on session attendance.
Physicians – Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.

Registration and Logistics
This course is held at CHSC Shalom Retreat and Training Center in Grand Saline, TX. Course activities are scheduled from 8am Monday, June 25, 2018 through 12:15pm Saturday, June 30, 2018. When making transportation arrangements, please plan 2 hours driving time between Dallas airports and Shalom Retreat and Training Center. Participants staying at Shalom Retreat and Training Center are encouraged to arrive June 24; full course price includes tuition, room (shared) and board from dinner June 24 through breakfast July 1. A commuter rate is offered which includes lunch daily.
