
Meet Our Board of Directors
W. Michael Smith
Michael holds a Doctor of Ministry degree (Fuller Theological Seminary, California). As an ordained minister in the Christian Churches, Michael has devoted much of his ministry to international service. Following seminary, he was pastor in a Columbus, Georgia, congregation for two years before beginning 23 years of service with Indianapolis-based Christian Missionary Fellowship (now CMF International). His CMF service included 3 ½ years in Ethiopia, 7 years in Indonesia, and a final 10 years as CMF’s General Director (CEO). From March 2003 through September 2009, he served as the Chief Operating Officer for MAP International, a health-focused Christian international relief and development agency based in Brunswick, GA. Michael and his wife Anne Marie live on Saint Simons Island, GA and have three adult children. Susan lives in Columbus, Ohio; Michael is in the Los Angeles area; and Alyson, in Brunswick, GA.
Jody Collinge M.D. Pediatrician
The Lord used a benign brain tumor to call Jody into medicine. She graduated from the College of Wooster, and later from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, where she also completed her pediatrics residency. Jody was in practice as a pediatrician in Saratoga Springs, NY until the Lord called her to be a medical missionary in Mexico. She was the Area Coordinator for Mexico with Medical Ambassadors International and now serves as a CHE consultant in charge of curriculum development with the Global CHE Network. Jody is certified in Tropical Medicine and Travel Medicine with ASTMH, and also has a MSc in Infectious Disease with the University of London. She has been actively involved in the development of the Global CHE Network and also in the development of Children's CHE ministries.
Glenn Strauss M.D. Ophthalmologist
Glenn served as a part-time missionary eye-surgeon his entire career. In 2004 he retired from his private ophthalmology practice in Tyler TX to serve the Lord in full-time medical ministry. He now serves as Senior V.P. of Health Care Initiatives with Mercy Ships International, and spends several months per year performing surgery on board the M/V Africa Mercy. www.straussministry.org , www.mercyships.org
Michael Soderling M.D. Obstetrician/Gynecologist
Michael was working as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in West Bend, Wisconsin when he received God’s Call to serve in missions. Since 2001 He has served as a medical missionary to Guatemala. His missions work is directed toward development of sustainable health care programs in communities throughout Guatemala. He holds an MBA in International Development. He presently serves as president of the Best Practices in Global Health Missions, a global network of organizations dedicated to improving the quality of health care missions. http://csthmbestpractices.org
Stan Rowland CHE Missionary
Twenty-five years ago he initiated the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) Strategy, for Campus Crusade for Christ in English Speaking Africa. He moved to Medical Ambassadors International in 1990 to facilitate CHE throughout their ministry. Stan has published a book entitled Multiplying Light and Truth now available in Spanish, Portuguese and Korean. He has coauthored four other books and written a number of magazine articles. He is a frequent conference speaker in the United States and throughout the world. Stan is currently involved with the urban poor in the USA. He has adapted the CHE principles used internationally for use with the urban poor in the USA. Currently he is involved directly in helping to mobilize network of churches in Phoenix, Tucson, Dallas, Louisville Omaha and Huston to use CHE. www.neighborhoodtransformation.net/index.php
Keith Ragsdale EdD, RN
Keith was an intensive/coronary care and emergency nurse before becoming a nurse practitioner and specializing in community health. Her passion to create more practitioners dedicated to excellence led her into a long career in nursing education. In 1999, Keith received the calling of the Lord to ministry and missions work, a dream she had held since the age of 5. She served in Zimbabwe, Mongolia and China, where they currently have an orphanage for disabled children. The Lord returned her to nursing education in 2008 and currently serves as Professor of Nursing at Concordia University where she is called to train the next generation of Christian nurses. She is currently developing courses to include missions and disaster response as essential skills for every graduate. www.concordia.edu/
Pastor Al Mendenhall
After Graduation from Seattle Pacific University/Cascade in 1968 Al was attached to U.S. Army Chaplaincy in Seol, South Korea. After returning home he worked many secular jobs in management and graphic design but remained active in ministry his entire adult life. He served with the Portland, Oregon Church Council, and the Portland Foursquare Church where he was Ordained as Pastor of Home Ministries. After moving to San Antonio he became part of the Pastoral Staff at Harvest Fellowship. He also served as Men’s Ministry Director and on the Mission’s Board with First Assembly of God in San Antonio. He authored one book: The Highest Gave His Voice. He presently serves as Co-founding Pastor of Living Water Fellowship in Bulverde, Texas. Al and his wife, Sherrie, reside in Spring Branch TX, they have six children and ten grandchildren.
Greg Seager RN & Candi Seager RN
Greg and Candi Seager are Registered Nurses. They both have an extensive background in Critical Care/ Emergency nursing and nursing management. They are the founders The Christian Health Service Corps. and are presently serving as its managing directors. From 2004 to 2006 they served as managers of Mercy Ships Strategic Health Initiatives. Prior to serving with Mercy Ships they were medical mission team coordinators for a Miami based mission organization (Project TeamWork). They have authored one book entitled “Operating Responsible Short-Term Healthcare Missions” which is available free of charge on this website in the resource section under Short-Term Medical. Greg and Candi live in San Antonio TX with their daughter Corinne.
