New Mission Hospital in ATEIKU, GHANA

 

The Adcock Christian Hospital celebrated its grand opening in March 2011.

This is the first and much needed hospital in the region and will serve over 100,000 people. The hospital will provide preventative healthcare and emergency services to the community and surrounding villages. With Ghana suffering from diseases endemic to Africa such as malaria, typhoid, HIV/AIDs, TB, tetanus, hepatitis, and others, a healthcare facility in this region will aid in the prevention and control of such illnesses.

The 35 bed hospital will offer the following specialties: Adult Care (Family Practice), Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Nursery, Ophthalmic (Vision Care), Surgery and Dentistry.  The hospital will also maintain an operating theater with a post-operative ICU and 2 private ICU rooms.   A full service Emergency Room, Ambulance services as well as a Pharmacy and X-Ray Department will also be available.  A fulltime physician from Egypt has been hired to head up and run the hospital. There will also be a general surgeon that comes weekly to perform needed surgeries for the hospital as well as visiting missionary physicians, dentists, chiropractors and nurses.

The primary objective of Adcock Christian Hospital is to provide wellness and medical education to the wonderful people of Ateiku and surrounding areas.  The hospital’s philosophy is to raise medical care to international standards while creating health awareness in the community.

There was much work done in building this facility yet much more will be needed in assuring healthcare in Ateiku exceeds Ghana standards and surpasses WHO (World Health Organization) recommendations.
