About Us
The Christian Health Service Corps was birthed from an indentified need in the mission community for a medical and health-focused sending organization. An organization focused on placing Christian healthcare professionals, and Community Health Evangelism (CHE) trained health workers, in communities around the world. Many sending organizations exist, however few are equipped to support missionaries in the complexities of cross-cultural health care.
We prepare missionaries for the complexities of cross-cultural health care, and health programming both directly and through our network of organizational partners.
Our Mission: is to prepare, equip, and send Christian healthcare professionals to care for the children and families of Gods’ global community.
Vision: We help missionaries become catalysts for transforming the health of Gods’ global community.
We envision a world where children no longer die of preventable causes, and primary healthcare is available to all people in all communities of the world.
Values: We ascribe to a Christian worldview that supports a holistic view of health inclusive of the mind, body and spirit. We believe in Gods intention of transformation “On earth as it is in Heaven” as the foundation of health development work. As such, we believe in health mission models that facilitate health development and support community transformation.
We believe:
All people of the world have a God given right to pursue physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Healthcare missions exist to facilitate and encourage that pursuit.
Protection and promotion of human dignity is a priority in all healthcare missions and in all circumstances. This applies to both patients treated and the local healthcare workers.
Healthcare missions should facilitate permanence and continuity of health services, not perpetuate fragmentation.
We believe compassionate medical and surgical care is not restricted by denomination. As such, we accept applications for service from Protestant, Catholic, Messianic and Orthodox Christian believers. We have service opportunities at both Protestant and Catholic hospitals, clinics, and health programs.
Statement of Faith: We are an interdenominational Christian organization that holds the Apostle’s Creed as our statement of faith.
Christian Health Service Programs
The Christian Health Service Corps is dedicated to helping missionaries transform the health of children and families in their communities.
With respect for human dignity, the missionaries we send work to build community capacity to:
- ensure child survival and normal growth of children,
- improve health infrastructure and access to functional health care services,
- provide opportunities for spiritual growth, promote a biblically based view of healthy families that nurtures and supports the emotional, spiritual, and physical growth of children.
